Political Cover?

The Tribune printed the following about former President Clinton's outrageous comments to students in the heart of the Arab world in Dubai:

Conduct of war was mistake, Bill Clinton says

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Former President Clinton told Arab students Wednesday the United States made a “ big mistake” when it invaded Iraq. Clinton cited the lack of planning for what would happen after Saddam Hussein was overthrown. “ The American government made several errors ... one of which is how easy it would be to get rid of Saddam and how hard it would be to unite the country,” Clinton told a forum of students at the American University of Dubai.

Funny, though, how the Tribune fails to remind its readers what Clinton said in 1998: " Saddam (Hussein) must not be allowed to threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas or biological weapons." (Google Clinton Iraq 1998) Nor does it mention that Hillary Clinton voted for the use of force in Iraq. (And don't fall for the new "triangulation" by the Clintons that they supported the war but disagree with its conduct. If so, you could fully expect Hillary to disclaim the left's false claims that Bush "lied us into war." As far as I can tell, she hasn't.)

This is the same thing that happened in the Mayoral race, and fully explains why the mainstream media is losing its clout in this world: They have taken sides.

And by the way, the Tribune keeps up the drumbeat today with its anti-Bush rally (4 overtly anti-Bush pieces since Sunday, 2 on gulags). This piece appeared in the Tribune today. It contains this gem about the Valerie Plame affair: "The story began with high-level deceit about a nonexistent strategic threat." Funny, in discussing the so-called "high-level deceit," the author doesn't tell us what it is and, strangely, like the Tribune fails to point out that the Clinton Administration saw the same threats. More political cover for the left.

UPDATE: Wouldn't a real newspaper report this too? Click here. (Thanks to www.instapundit.com)

Absolutely not. Report the news. Provide balanced analysis. I don't want bias in either direction from the mainstream press. I want to be able to trust what they say.
