John Leo has a good piece about the media providing political cover to groups and individuals by writing about them without including their known beliefs or backgrounds.

This has been a consistent complaint of mine about the Tribune. My favorite was a couple years ago when they featured a column by Susan Sontag and on the byline characterized her as "an essayist." (She is a well known leftist agitator who once characterized the white race as "the cancer of human history.")
