Who really owns your land?
I note that the City is cracking down on junk vehicles and now weeds. I'm a believer in pretty property as much as the next guy, but geez, do these guys recognize any restrictions on their ability to tell you what to do with your property?
I have never liked the 'slippery slope' argument, (Give someone a little power now, and they'll grab more later.), but I have to admit, we're starting to see it in this town. We have a small group of people in this community who feel empowered, no, compelled, to tell you what you can and cannot do with your land.
This is not a good thing. For those of you who complain about your neighbor's weeds and say "hear, hear," to the City's crackdown, we will wait and listen to see what tune you are singing when the City comes to talk to you about your sidewalks, or your trees, or your setbacks, or whatever else King Lawton has up his sleeve.
