9/11 Memorial

Many things come across my desk and I choose not to write about them simply because I assume most people who would read my site would also have it come across their desks. This is true of the Debra Burlingame piece about the radical left's attempts to seize control of the 9/11 Memorial in New York City.

You have no doubt read about the International Freedom Center's plans to inundate Memorial visitors with "exhibits about Chinese dissidents and Chilean refugees." So I elected to pass on it.

But it just keeps coming. Now, the New York Daily News reports on the fact that a SoHo art gallery, The Drawing Center, has been given space at the Memorial. According to the newspaper, The Drawing Center sponsors left-wing 'art' like:

  • The infamous hooded Abu Ghraib figure, the wires falling from his wrists to arrange themselves into the word "Liberty."
  • A connect-the-dots organizational chart fancifully linking George W. Bush to Osama Bin Laden and former Texas Gov. John Connally and some oilman here and some financier there.
The article goes on to quote the following "wackobabble" (I love it!) co-written by the executive director of The Drawing Center: "Mobilizing the nation by portraying it as a guardian of family and home, the U.S. government has embarked on a campaign to protect the innocent through the benevolent 'liberation' of 'evil' nations...Global capitalism levels out difference, effectively eliminating barriers while producing abstract space. It works similarly to the paradigm of the nation-stage, which demands an assimilation of difference, suggestive of a death of otherness in some current circles of thought." Huh?

Why are these people to be given space in a National Memorial paid for with your tax dollars and mine? I am not a big 'petition guy,' but go to the website and sign it. This is bullsh*t.
