Job Cuts at the City

You may have seen this article in yesterday's Tribune. The City of Great Falls is closing its facilities maintenance division, and letting two employees go.

The move was apparently designed to save money. But City Manager John Lawton admits "he doesn't know how much it will cost to hire out the facility maintentance work, so it's too soon to say how much money the change will save." Huh? The City has no idea how much it is going to cost to replace the work performed by these two individuals? Then how do they know whether it will save money at all? Shouldn't the cost analysis have been done before they were fired?

"The cut has nothing to do with any costs the city might incur for the Explore the Big Sky Lewis and Clark Signature Event, Lawton said." Yeah. And Generalíssimo Francisco Franco is still dead.
