Freedom of Information Act
The Tribune printed an editorial today with some lofty sentiments ("all citizens should have access to all government information") about open government.
The question, though, is if government affairs are opened up, will anyone know anyway? In other words, the Tribune doesn't seem to be working too hard to dig this stuff up right now. Won't the existence of more 'tools' for investigation be somewhat immaterial?

I use the FOIA at work on a regular basis. It ... simply ... takes ... too ... long ... to ... get ... routine ... and ... mundane ... information. I welcome any effort to make the FOIA more responsive.
Whether or not the Trib is using the FOIA to its full potential, that is an entirely separate subject.
