Governor on Education

Did anyone else see this in Saturday's Tribune:

"When's the last time you heard the education community say, 'We've got
about all the money we need'?"

Gov. Brian Schweitzer asked that rhetorical question during a meeting this
past week with the Tribune editorial board.

He was defending the dollar amounts in his school funding proposal, which
will be introduced Wednesday, the first day of a special legislative session
called for that specific purpose.

Hey, I agree with him. The 'education establishment' never gives a number, just "more."

But my observation is this: Do any of you think that the Tribune would have quoted the same statement neutrally if a Republican governor had made it?

Neither do I.

Time and time again, I find myself very pleasantly surprised by our Governor. Keep it up Mr. Schweitzer.
