Upside to Coal Debacle
So the City is begging for $4 million. Because it did not plan properly. Because it had unrealistic expectations without having everything in place first. Because its attempt to circumvent state law to get more tax money failed. And because it recognizes that it lied to get the malting plant.
This sounds kind of familiar. So far on the Coal Plant, the city has started spending money without a real plan. It has expectations with no verified basis to support them. It is using shadowy quasi governmental organizations that spend tax dollars but without taxpayer oversight. And it may well be lying to the citizens to sell the deal.
But there is an upside. No one cares much about a mere $4 million when we are looking at footing the bill for hundreds of millions.
