This ad by SME in the Tribune last week kinda freaks me out a little. Here’s what I see... a partially covered child with a Damien Thorn-like grin (The Omen) on his face contemplates all his options, including tossing the blow dryer into the adjacent bathtub creating a horrific scene.
OK, maybe you see something different. I am guessing that SME would rather I associate clean kids with coal technology and hot air with their opponents’ arguments. I have been mostly just disturbed by SME ads so far. Whether it is this photo or that of Frosty the Coalman (I mean Snowman), using children's images to promote coal pollution seems bizarre. Coal isn’t clean. SME is blowing smoke not just hot air.
