Old wounds

I hate to re-open old wounds, but this post on Dave's site reminded me of something.

Remember the City's Explore! The Big Sky fiasco? You know, we lost hundreds of thousands of dollars because the throngs of people expected to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Lewis and Clark took a pass? That one.

One of the knocks on the City at the time was that management bought a bunch of cell phones for the event, and that they were sitting there in boxes. (The other rumor was that they were given away to employees.)

Anyway, I went to look at the cell phones for sale. They're Kyocera K404s. Vintage is 2004. That's about right for the Lewis and Clark Signature Event, isn't it?

I wonder....

Which reminds me...in today's Trib, there is a piece about Montana license plates, and it references the "Lewis and Clark" plates:

*****************************
"The second most popular set of plates preferred by county residents is the Lewis and Clark commemoration plates, he said. That should start dropping off as things die down," he said of the Lewis and Clark frenzy throughout the state during the expedition's bicentennial between 2004-06."
******************************

Hm. So it was a "frenzy," eh? Coulda fooled me...

Ah... the Trib. Dazzling us with their command of the English language.
