Line Item Veto
Governor Schweitzer recently vetoed portions of HB2, the biennial budget bill. He struck out the portions of the bill that would require state agencies to report back to the legislature on the results of their spending and activities. I previously argued in favor of this idea.
I guess I can see his point about trying to preserve the separation of powers, if we take him at face value and accept that this is the true motivation for his actions rather than a simple distaste toward accountability.
Nevertheless, it's hard to get behind something that will stop attempts to instill accountability into our government. Why shouldn't they account for how they spend our money?

GREAT IDEA! Gguy! But hey, wait a dallgarned minute here. Weren't the Repugs gonna create LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of new jobs by FUNDING all them outta state corporations! Yeah, that's right! The FUNDED (instead of education, health care, social programs, and all the things that benefit your average Montanans) the friggin' outta state corporations to the tune of FIVE HUNDRED FRIGGIN' MILLION DOLLARS of our tax money! So, why aren't the Repugs being held accountable when NONE of the jobs materialiazed? Good damn question! Let's hold them dumb bastard reponsible for all the tax breaks that now WE have to make UP the difference for! Sounds good to me!
Larry Kralj, Environmental Rangers!
Larry, the part of me that wants to take you seriously says that nobody "FUNDED" out of state corporations. If they sell citizens (even Montana citizens) a product or service on the market, the money is theirs, not the government's. So if state government gives them a tax break, that is not "funding" them. It's taking less of their money.
Now, the other part of me that doesn't want to take you seriously, simply wants to ask: What are you doing here? Nobody reads lawyers' blogs. Duh! Go back to the working stiff blogs!
Ahh gee, gguy, am I being kicked off your blog??
LK
Not at all, Larry. At least someone's reading it, even if he is a crazed environmental ranger. I was joking about your going back to the working stiffs, and I enjoy your misinformation.
Y'all come back now, y'hear?
