And speaking of lame-assed...

Why doesn't the Tribune get a real website? You know, one with a search engine that works? I sure hope they aren't paying their webmasters very much.

I agree -- the layout and "usability" of the Trib site is just bad. I don't understand why they think it is acceptable.

Heh. Several years ago, I applied for a job at the Trib in a graphics field. When asked the obligatory question "Where do you see yourself in five years," I replied rather ambitiously that I wanted to be directing the efforts of their online newspaper (the Trib didn't even have a site at the time). The interviewer kind of pursed his lips and said that the Trib leadership wasn't sure what to do about the internet since there's no money in it; they couldn't quite see why they should have an online version when it would risk compromising their print sales.

Again, this was years ago, and they've at least taken the first step into the last part of the 20th century, but I think you're still seeing that mindset at work. The dead-tree version, to them, is the real newspaper and the website is a toy.

Everything about the Trib is lame-ass. Well... I can't say that. The Friday entertainment section is O.K.
