I never could get into the books. They are, after all, generally considered to be children's books. And I am more of a sci-fi fan anyway.

I read the first two books several years ago to what all the fuss was about...they were adequate - fun stories, simply told - but I remain absolutely baffled at the monstrous success of the series.
magic..........oh that's how the city found $1.4 million for
the 'gift' to SME......what's next when they need to help 'cash flow' - plunder the employee coffee fund and shake out their
pockets at city hall?
