Overweight Kids

Obese kids are stigmatized. I can't believe that anyone actually spent money to study this.

I think I'm out on a limb here, but doesn't it seem ironic that the same article that refers to childhood obesity as an "epidemic" also says we need more "efforts" to minimize children's willingness to stigmatize obesity? If obesity is a bad thing, and it is, don't we want to discourage it? Has anyone ever heard of peer pressure?

Would we be complaining if the headline of the article read: "Teenage drug users face widespread stigma?" How about: "Teenagers who drink and drive face widespread stigma?"

That's policy for you. Maybe you should have named it 'A Moving Target Redux,' huh?
