Leadership

Readers of this blog know that I remain unconvinced about the seriousness of global climate change, as well as mans' role in it. That does not mean, though, that there are not good reasons to go 'green' for green's sake.

Does Great Falls want to be a 'coal town,' or do we want to position ourselves as technically progressive? Do we want to adopt an image as a 'coal town' for the sake of providing electrical power to people who don't even live here? 75% of the power produced will go to residents over a hundred miles away from us, and 0% will go to city residents.

Do you really believe that this is the best economic development idea we can come up with for $180,000,000.00?

What might a true leader do?

" 'The coal plants really got people fired up,' said Ian Bruce, an analyst for the David Suzuki Foundation, an environmental group based in Vancouver. 'The perception is that British Columbia is an environmentally conscious place. But suddenly, British Columbians realized their government was headed in the wrong direction. It was an embarrassment, and it put a lot of pressure on the B.C. government.' "
Could that be Great Falls?
