See, I told you it was phony.
Remember when Rep. Mike Lange had his little outburst against Governor Schweitzer? I said at the time that, while I disagreed with what Lange did, I was just as disgusted with all the phony posturing by the Tribune about, ohmygosh, how outrageous it all was.
So, today, when I saw this in the Edge, I knew I was right:
Bumper sticker of the week:
Jack Kervorkian for White House Physician.
— Seen on a Subaru driving on 9th Street South.
So the Tribune was shocked, shocked that Lange said "ass" in a public setting, but they think that a bumper sticker suggesting the premature death of the nation's President is cute.
Phony.

I was appalled by that. What the hell were they thinking! Is this cute to them? The Trib is as much a horse's ass as the guy who had this on his car. Look, NO ONE dislikes Bush more than I do. But that bumper sticker, if it even exists, is WAY outta line. But remember, this is the same paper that put the extremely unfunny Watson cartoon in there supposedly depicting Susan O. before the city council. I heard that Moseman is on vacation and someone named karen ogden is running the show. This woman must be friggin NUTS!

The Tribune is a local exhibit of a national phenomenon. Other professionals-the Lawyers, doctors, teachers, realtors-have ethical rules to live by. They don't.
The Tribune doesn't offer us news--it offers several pages of editorials each day. They must be thinking----"Don't put LAWTON on the spot-he'll stop talking to us". Locally-we have people like GGUY to help us see that there is more to the story-and more questions to be asked-than the tribune is willing to -or any journalist would be wiling to ask.
Maybe Eric Newhouse could write a series based upon:
Without Conscience: The Disturbing World of the Psychopaths Amoung Us by Robert Hare
Emotional Blackmail: When the People in Your Life Use Fear, Obligation and Guilt to Manipulate You by Susan Forward
Why is it Always About You?: The Seven Deadly Sins of Narcissism by Sandy Hotchkiss
Speaking of phony.... Sweet Ol' Bian is living the humble life...
SOB...lol....
How much of his ranch was subsidized with federal money?
Guess he needs a place posh enough for Hill-billy and the entourage to hang.
Allegedly....Allegedly....
Um, let's be honest here, shall we? Look, pretty much a HUGE PART of the Republican party here in Montana is of the SAME ag community as Schweitzer. So, do the accusations you're making against Schweitzer apply to ALL the Repubs in ag too? Just wondering. For you see, we should be quite honest on this forum outta respect for Gee Guy. He runs a quality site here.

Jack Kervorkian must have worked for the Tribune at some point because its dead as a doornail.

Document your facts. Let me help you.
Big Subsidies in Big Sky Country. Senator R. Jon Tester (D-MT), newly elected in November 2006, and his wife Sharla are equal co-owners of T-bone Farms, Inc., in Big Sandy Springs, Montana. Between 1995 and 2005, the farm received $232,311 in USDA subsidies for oats, wheat, barley, and dry peas and assistance for miscellaneous disasters.[4]
Members of the family of Montana's senior Senator, Max Sieben Baucus (D-MT), own the Sieben Ranch Company in Wolf Creek, Montana. Between 1995 and 2005, Sieben Ranch (co-owned by six members of the Baucus family) received $230,237 from the USDA.[5] There are conflicting reports on the Senator's financial ownership interest in the enterprise, and queries to his office on this matter were not answered.
Dennis Rehberg (R-MT), Montana's lone Representative, and his wife Janice have received USDA subsidies in the past but nothing in recent years.
The State of Montana. Two agencies of the State of Montana receive substantial subsidies for farm land that they own or hold in trust. The Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation's Trust Land Management Division received $35,314,692 from the USDA between 1995 and 2005, making it the largest subsidy recipient in the state.
The second largest recipient was the Montana Board of Investments, which manages and invests the cash balances, trust funds, and pension pools controlled by Montana state and local governments and other public entities. Included in its investment portfolio are agriculture lands eligible for USDA payments. Between 1995 and 2005, the board received $21,062,181 from the USDA.
Hmmm... why did Schweitzer and the Dems insist on keeping the billion dollar surplus instead of giving it back to taxpayers?
Nothing Personal
Oh PUUHHHHLEEASE, little fella. Did you even READ what I said? So, what you're saying is that there are NO Repubs out there in ag getting the same subsidies? Wow! Quite an argument you got there. Oh, and denny, if I remember right he only CLAIMS to be a rancher. Goats are his game......and phony real estate deals! Sheesh. Engage brain before posting.
p.s. Anon, just to be sure of my "facts", I'll call my farmer pals on the HiLine to see whether or not they've switched to the Dem party since I left!!! tee hee! (ring, ring, ring, ring! "hello".
"Hey, Chris. Did you fellas switch to the Dem party since I left?"
"BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
"Well OK then. I was just wondering". Bye)
I take that as a "no"!

ROFLOL - Git 'er dun!
Hey, little fella, kinda HARD to argue against nonsense! You are saying that there are MORE Dems than Repubs receiving ag subsidies in Montana. ANYONE who is from Montana KNOWS that this an absurd argument. Now, if you have some documentation proving otherwise, LET'S SEE IT! And kinda SAD to see you whinin' bout not gettin' your share. Sad and pathetic really. (gimmee! gimmee!) Do you REALLY need govt. money so badly? Are you REALLY that incapable of making a living on your own? Sad, so sad. Are you a Blakc welfare mother????

Here, little fella, I'll help you out. Name one, just one, only ONE ag county in Montana that voted democratic! Liberty maybe??? Hill?? Which one. You see, little fella, you went from the general to the specific. Dumb move. You imply a lie! It's that's simple. You're implying that dems get MORE ag subsidies than Repubs in Montana with your little example of Tester etc. Well, I'm tellin' you quite specifically that's a LIE! And a big one. It's a big whopper! So, give me a county by county (ag of course) list of all the counties that went dem. For you see, little fella, MORE ag people go Repub than Dem. More Repubs than Dems get subsidies. Always have. There, how's THAT for dokyoumentayshun?!

Lucky the rest of us can read
It does raise questions about the politics of Montana. Just because someone claims to be Republican or blue collar doesn't mean they are fiscally conservative.
Anon -
Search who's getting how much here. You can type in by name, zip or business.
It appears the little guys aren't getting as much as the big guys.
YIKES! I typed in the county I'm most familar with, Liberty. It got a measely 14.3 MILLION DOLLARS! Not bad I'd say. But wait. There's ONLY 2,300 people in the entire county! Hmm. You do the math. And guess what, little fella. THEY'RE ALL REPUBLICAN!!!! Oh, excpet of course for a few subversive commie school teachers! But I don't suppose that they got much in the way of subsidies! Ya see, folks, the little fella arguing with me don't know his behind on this one. I seriously doubt he's even from Montana making such stupid arguments. I sincerely hope he can do better than compare Denny with Brian and Tester in the future. Silly, sillly comparison. 'Sides, Denny's probly gotta spend MOST of his time trying to pacifying those angry people that bought land from him down in Billings!

Larry: Your wrote, "Name one, just one, only ONE ag county in Montana that voted democratic!"
Answer: Hill, Blaine, Roosevelt That;s about all JT won except for Missoula and Cascade.
Hill County? Havre. No really an ag county per se. More like a college and former RR county. (see union) Could be Dem easily. But I'm not talking about counties that voted for Tester. I'm talking about counties that TRADITIONALLY vote Democratic. Not many I'd say, even Blaine and Roosevelt. My point being that the ag community is nearly unanimous in their support of the Repubs. But thanks for the info. That's interesting.
