ALL excellent planks, and I mean that seriously. But I would add one more. PLANK SEVEN. No more cops at city council meetings! If you DON'T have enough faith in your fellow citizens that you don't feel comfortable facing them without backup from chief dorky, DON'T RUN FOR OFFICE!

PLANK EIGHT. Any time the first words out of a copper's mouth is "FELONY", he is to be reprimanded. It if continues, he will be fired! Time to upgrade the professional of the PD. Dorky ain't about to do it. Thugs and bullies will be weeded out. I mean my GOD, we're paying a salary to these people to bully us?!!

PLANK NINE. Throw out the three minute rule! Anyone runnig for office MUST realize that they work for US! To discourage public participation is anathema to our sensibilities and system of government. It you want to be a dicktater, go to South America!

I spoke with mayoral candidate Susan Kahn last week. She made a suggestion to the Cascade Board of Elections to add a straw vote on the coal plant when they run their mock election in September. Since there is no primary and they want to still make a dry run, lets give them some work counting something!

A straw vote on coal plant. That would send chills down the spineless!

And no vote jonny too! What the kind of city manager would cancel a vote on the most DISASTROUS environmental decision in years? I say the city should acquire that land just downwind from the plant and make ALL the city folk live there. FOR LIFE! Lot's of folks livin' downwind will have no choice in the matter. And again, let me reiterate, the health effects of living downwind from a coal plant of this type are NOT hypothetical. They are verifiable! And I would be glad to send anyone a copy of a report of the downwind health effects of the Coalstrip plants if you post an address. PLEASE, people. Ignore the crap about "one of the cleanest in the country". That's about like saying that I'll shoot you in the head, but I'll use a .22, one of the smallest calibres in the country! What a joke.

Plank Ten: This is my own idea. A color coded threat level, kinda like the Homeland Screwity one. Yellow: mike whitsoe shows up. Orange: Larry Rezentes shows up.
Reddish orange: The ENTIRE CCE bunch shows up, and they're PISSED!
RED ALERT!: A lone female shows with documents in hand to confront the city regarding what appears to be in all likelyhood underhanded dealings!

There. You see, for the LIFE of me, I could NOT understand just WHAT in the hell constituted such a threat to jonny no vote and primadonna that they needed Cheif Cloyd and his boys there! So, THAT'S what I created my OWN Citiland Threat Chart. Hope you like it. But I STILL would like to know just WHO first called for the coppers to be at the meetings and just WHAT the percieved threat was that necesitated their presence! (intimidation maybe? isn't intimidation a FELONY too?) Sure, I'm slow. I'll admit that. I just can't figure this one out. Maybe some OTHER poster can explain to me just WHY our local officials are so DAMN fearful of city residents! In the meantime, I'll just use my color chart. Feel free to use it also!

What I still don't understand is why the commission revoked the right to a public vote in the beginning...

Me too, Anon. But I mean, the ramifications of having the police force become an enforcement arm of the city government is scary beyond belief! I mean, my GOD! Are we back to the days when Anaconda Copper had their OWN police force? I'm issuing a DIRECT CHALLENGE to jonny no vote or primadonna to explain to me SPECIFICALLY just WHY the cops are needed at a freakin' city council meeting! What IS the threat? It looks to me be simply to intimidate the public! I had thought that we had moved beyond those days here in Montana. And my GOD, I expect our city leaders to have at LEAST enough cojones to meet the public face to face without relying on backup from the local fuzz! It's not fuzzy math. It's fuzzy GOVERNMENT when you have the fuzz hauling people off! What IS the crime they are there to prevent? I think that these are very legitimate questions that demand answers. If we're gonna get screwed by King Coal, I'd prefer to do it with eyes wide open that EYES WIDE SHUT! They can at least kiss us while slidin' that coal collar on!
